Calculate Creatinine Clearance (crcl)
Calculate Creatinine Clearance based on age, weight, serum creatinine level, and sex. Adjusts for sex differences.
Calculate Creatinine Clearance
Purpose
The Calculate Creatinine Clearance function helps in determining the kidney function of a person based on their age, weight, serum creatinine level, and sex.
Use Cases
- To assess kidney function in individuals
- To monitor kidney health over time
How to Use
- Enter the required information in the respective fields.
- Click on the "Calculate" button to get the result.
Input Values
- Age - Enter the age of the individual in years.
- Default unit is years.
- Weight - Enter the weight of the individual.
- Default unit is kilograms.
- Serum Creatinine - Enter the serum creatinine level of the individual.
- Default unit is milligrams per deciliter (mg/dl).
- Sex - Select the gender of the individual from the dropdown menu.
Output Values
- Creatinine Clearance - The estimated kidney function of the individual in milliliters per minute (ml/min).
Any other Instruction
- For females, the calculated creatinine clearance value is multiplied by 0.85 due to physiological differences.
Code Analysis
- Calculate the age in years.
- Calculate the weight in kilograms.
- Calculate the serum creatinine level in mg/dl.
- Use the Cockcroft-Gault formula to estimate creatinine clearance.
- Adjust the result for females if applicable.
Technical Parameters
- age, weight, serum_creatinine, sex
Return Values
- Creatinine Clearance
Example Expressions
You can use the following expressions to directly evaluate in a non-interactive manner using eval():
crcl(age='45 yr', weight='70 kg', serum_creatinine='1.2 mg/dl', sex='M')
crcl(age='60 yr', weight='60 kg', serum_creatinine='1.0 mg/dl', sex='F')
